Considerations
-
Replying to comments (threaded comments): In addition to commenting on content (first-level comments), users can reply to comments on blog articles, files, calendar events, forum posts, microblog posts, and wiki articles.
- Second-level comments: Replies to a first-level comment automatically append an @mention to the author of the original comment before the reply text, and be indented from the original comment to indicate a new thread of discussion.
- Third-level comments: Replying to a second-level comment behaves in the same way as a second-level comment. However, replies to third-level comments do not create additional commenting levels and are instead posted as third-level comments.
- Comments are turned off: When comments are turned off, the message "Sorry, comments are closed" will be displayed below the content.
- Moderated comments: Some channels may have comment moderation turned on. These channels require a moderator to review and approve new comments before they appear in the comments section. Comments in a review state are visible to the poster with the message, "This comment is waiting for approval."
-
WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor: Comments use the WYSIWYG editor. In addition to basic text formatting, the editor also gives tools to include images, gifs, and videos in comments.
- @Mentions: If information may be relevant to another member who is not currently following the content, including an @mention in a comment will send them a notification.
- Automatic following content: By default, posting a comment or reply in the comment section of content automatically subscribes a member to instant notifications from that content. An administrator can modify this behavior from a channel's Subscriptions page. Alternatively, members can turn off automatic subscriptions from the Subscription Settings area on their Subscriptions page.
Who can do this?
- Enterprise administrators
- Workplace administrators
- Space administrators
- Digital workplace members with Read, Edit, or Full access to the content
- If anonymous commenting is turned on, anonymous users with View-Only access to the content

Post a comment via email
Posting comments via email can only be done if a channel is configured to allow posting content from email.
Using your usual email client, post a comment via email by replying to a notification email (excluding broadcast notifications) that you received. When replying to the notification, the body of the reply email (including images) will be what gets posted as a comment. Similarly, attachments that are part of the reply email will be posted as attachments to the comment.
If the notification you want to reply to comes from the email address noreply@{your digital workplace domain}, you cannot send a comment to it via email. This can be because emailing is turned off for the content's channel or the notification is a broadcast.
