Considerations
- Web tab vs. other tabs: Searching from the Web tab provides different functionality than searching from other tabs. See Search.
- Searching past subscription notifications: If you recently received a subscription notification for the content you want to find, you can search within that feed instead of searching the entire digital workplace. See Searching your subscription notification feed in the app.
-
Default search behavior: Search results are separated into two tabs — Content and People. The default tab depends on where you start your search:
- When you search from the Feed, Notifications, or Favorites tab, your search results will default to showing content.
- When you search from the People tab, your search results will default to showing people.
- Search results: Search results exclude content you do not have access to, as well as task channels and tasks.
- Pages and spaces in search: Selecting a page or space opens it in your mobile device's web browser, while selecting content or channels opens them in the app.
Ordering of search results
Search results are ranked by a relevance algorithm influenced by the following factors:
- How frequently a search term appears in the content.
- Exact term matches are ranked higher than near matches.
- Terms in titles are weighted more heavily than terms in labels or body text.
- A content item's post date and activity level also affect its ranking in results.
- Keywords tied to a Recommended Result cause that content to appear at the top of the search results.
