Box integration

The Box widget is an integration that provides users with a view into a connected Box folder and its contents. Through this interface, users can interact with existing folder contents, create new folders, and upload new files.

Considerations and caveats

Transferring files between Box and an Igloo Folder Channel

It is not possible to directly transfer files between these two file repositories. You must download the file to your computer from one and then upload it to the other.

Unified Search widget

You can configure the Unified Search widget to search Box in addition to other file repositories. For more information, refer to the Unified Search integration article.

Location Description

1. Breadcrumb trail

The Breadcrumb trail displays where you currently are relative to the configured initial folder.
Select a location in this path to navigate directly to that folder.

2. Search Box

Enter a term to look for and then press enter to perform the search. Only the names of folders and files are searched. After completing a search, a list of matching results for content within and nested under the configured initial folder are displayed. 

The Search box can be turned on/off using the Show Search setting.

3. Add Folder

Select to add a new folder to your current location. After creating a new folder, you will have the opportunity to give it a name. If you do not give it a name at this time, you must log in to Box to change the name.

4. Upload File

Select to upload a new file to your current location. Use the file explorer to find the file on your computer and then click Open to begin the upload. You can select multiple files (ctrl-click / shift-click while selecting a file) to upload more than one at a time.

You can also drag files into the widget to upload them.

5. File Window

A display of the current folder's contents. This display can look or function differently depending on how the widget is configured:

  • Selecting a file name will either open it in Box or download it, depending on how Enable View in Box is configured.
  • This window will always have a minimum height (showing about 7 items with a scrollbar) but can be configured to scale to the folder's contents; see the Enable Auto Height setting.
  • All columns, except for the file/folder name, can be hidden.

6. Delete Folder

Select to delete a folder and all of its content from Box. A confirmation window will pop up to confirm this action.

7. Actions Menu

Select to access additional file options. Options include:

  • View in Box
  • Download
  • Delete File
  • Information

8. View in Box

Select to open the file (in Box) in a new browser tab.
This option may not be available depending on how Enable View in Box is configured.

9. Download

Select to download the file to your computer.

10.  Delete File

Select to delete the file from Box. A confirmation window will pop up to confirm this action.

11. Information

Select to show a window that contains the following information about a file:

  • The file's name
  • The size of the file
  • When the file was created
  • Who last modified the file
  • Link to the file (not shown if Enable View in Box is disabled)

12. Logout

Select to sign out of the widget.

Authentication

To access the contents of the Box widget, users must first sign in to it using their Box credentials. After entering their credentials, users must select Grant access to Box to finish signing in to the widget. If a user already has an active Box session in their browser, they will not need to enter their credentials, only select Grant access to Box. The windows for entering credentials and granting access are popups that are separate from your current browser window.

How to sign in to Box through the widget.

Set up

  1. Place an  Integrations widget on a page, space, or dashboard. For more information, see Placing and setting up a widget
  2. Select the placed widget's Edit button.
  3. Under Integration Library, select Igloo Integration Library.
  4. Select Box integration from the library.
  5. Review and make changes to the settings on the Options and Appearance tabs. You can find details about the widget's settings in the Settings section below.
  6. In the widget editor, select Update to apply your changes.
  7. At the bottom of your page, space, or dashboard, select Publish or Save as Draft to save your changes.

Setting Description
Title

Enter a title for the widget. The title appears as a heading above the widget's contents. You should use the title to provide context to the widget and better structure a page's content by clearly denoting different sections.

When entering a title, you do so only for your currently selected language. If your digital workplace supports multiple languages, you should select  Translation and enter a title for each supported language. 

This field can contain a maximum of 140 characters.

Title link

Enter the URL of a location in your digital workplace. Users who click the widget's title, if it has one, will go to this location. Whether you enter the link as a relative URL or an absolute URL does not matter, it will convert to an absolute URL the next time you edit the widget.

This field can contain a maximum of 2,083 characters.

Description

Enter a description for the widget. The description appears between the title and the widget's contents. You can use this text to provide information to users about the widget.

When entering a description, you do so only for your currently selected language. If your digital workplace supports multiple languages, you should select  Translation and enter a description for each supported language.

Initial Folder ID

Enter the Box Folder ID of the folder that you want to display initially. Users can only browse and search nested files and folders under this location. By default, this value is 0 (Box's root folder).

To find a folder's ID, navigate to the folder in Box and then look at the URL of that location. The Folder ID is the number that comes after folder/. In the example URL below, the Folder ID would be 126788917518.

General options
Setting Description

Enable View in Box

Select whether users can open a view of the file.

If enabled, clicking a file name or selecting View in Box from a file's Actions menu will open the file (in Box) in a new browser tab. If disabled, selecting a file name will download the file, and no View in Box option will appear in a file's Actions menu or Information Panel.

Enable Auto Height

Select whether the height of the widget will expand to show all items in a folder.

If enabled, the widget will expand the widget's height to show all items in a folder. If disabled, the widget will display items in a fixed-height scrollable window.

Show search

Select whether users can search the folder and its nested locations.

If enabled, users will have access to a search box for entering text queries. If disabled, this search box won't be shown in the widget.

Show Last Modified By

Select whether the Last Modified By column is shown.

If enabled, this column will show the name of the last user who modified a file. If disabled, this column won't be shown in the widget.

Show Last Modified

Select whether the Last Modified column is shown.

If enabled, this column will show the date and time when the file was last modified. If disabled, this column won't be shown in the widget.

Show File Type

Select whether the File Type column is shown.

If enabled, this column will show a file's format. If disabled, this column won't be shown in the widget.

Show File Size

Select whether the File Size column is shown.

If enabled, this column will show a file's size. If disabled, this column won't be shown in the widget.

Setting Description
Class

Enter CSS class selectors to provide additional styling to the widget. For more information, see Applying custom CSS to widgets.

Height

Select the height of the widget.

The default value is Auto (leftmost slider position) scales the widget's height to fit its contents. You can use the slider to set a fixed height between 50px to 600px in increments of 50px.

Selecting a height less than what is needed to display its contents results in the widget having a vertical scrollbar.

Note

Your digital workplace's theme overwrites many of the settings on the Appearance tab. However, the settings listed above are usable.
