Google Calendar Month View integration

The Google Calendar Month View integrations widget provides a portal into an existing Google calendar, displaying events in a wall calendar-like grid. Through it, you can view, update, and create events.

Location Description

1. Jump to date

Select a specific month to show by selecting the date (Month Year)

2. Add Events

Select + to create new events in your calendar.

3. Previous / Next Month

Select <> arrows to move to the previous or next month in the calendar. 

4. Update Events

Select the title of an event to update the event's details.

5. Logout

Select to log out of the currently sign-in account.

Considerations

Some features of Google Calendars are not supported through the Integrations widget:

  • Language: Only English language use is supported in the Google Calendar integration.
  • Mobile app: Google Calendar is not compatible with the Igloo mobile app.
  • Attachments: You cannot add or edit attachments.
  • Multiple calendars: You cannot view multiple calendars in a single widget.

  • Members of the digital workplace with Edit or Full access

Set up

  1. Place an  Integrations widget on a page, space, or dashboard. For more information, see Placing and setting up a widget
  2. Select the placed widget's Edit button.
  3. Under Integration Library, select Igloo Integration Library.
  4. Select Google Calendar Month View from the library.
  5. Review and make changes to the settings on the Options and Appearance tabs. You can find details about the widget's settings in the Settings section below.
  6. In the widget editor, select Update to apply your changes.
  7. At the bottom of your page, space, or dashboard, select Publish or Save as Draft to save your changes.

Setting Description
Title

Enter a title for the widget. The title appears as a heading above the widget's contents. You should use the title to provide context to the widget and better structure a page's content by clearly denoting different sections.

When entering a title, you do so only for your currently selected language. If your digital workplace supports multiple languages, you should select  Translation and enter a title for each supported language. 

This field can contain a maximum of 140 characters.

Title link

Enter the URL of a location in your digital workplace. Users who click the widget's title, if it has one, will go to this location. Whether you enter the link as a relative URL or an absolute URL does not matter, it will convert to an absolute URL the next time you edit the widget.

This field can contain a maximum of 2,083 characters.

Description

Enter a description for the widget. The description appears between the title and the widget's contents. You can use this text to provide information to users about the widget.

When entering a description, you do so only for your currently selected language. If your digital workplace supports multiple languages, you should select  Translation and enter a description for each supported language.

Calendar ID

If you would like the calendar integration to display a specific calendar when it loads, enter that calendar ID in the Calendar ID field. The calendar ID can be found in the Calendar Details in the Google Calendar interface.

Enter primary to see the primary calendar associated with the logged-in user’s email.

Select to determine if attendees will be visible when inspecting the details of an event. 

Read Only

Select to prevent adding and editing events through the widget.

Class

Enter CSS class selectors to provide additional styling to the widget. For more information, see Applying custom CSS to widgets.

Height

Select the height of the widget. Options include:
  • Auto: The leftmost slider position. The widget's height will increase and decrease to contain what it is displaying.
  • Fixed: Select a fixed height between 50px and 600px in increments of 50px. A vertical scrollbar will appear on the widget if the content exceeds this fixed value.

Note

Your digital workplace's theme overwrites many of the settings on the Appearance tab. However, the settings listed above are usable.

Use the widget

Before using the widget, you must log in with your Google credentials associated with the calendar you wish to view.

Sign-in options in widget. 

 

  1. Select Sign in with Google.
  2. Enter your Google credentials.
  3. When prompted, provide the following access to your Google account: See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar.

Once logged in to Google, you can do the following actions: 

  • View different events and months
  • Add and edit calendar events
  • Log out of the Google calendar

Frequently asked questions

Can I sync my calendar to an Igloo calendar?

Not directly. You can, however, invite an Igloo calendar to an event in your Google Calendar. See Adding content via email for more details.

Can I search my Google Calendar using the regular Igloo search feature?

Igloo cannot search your Google Calendar. Due to security restrictions, Igloo does not have direct access to that information.
