How to run an nslookup

An nslookup will tell you the IP address and other DNS information about the websites you are trying to access. This information can be helpful when troubleshooting connection issues.

Perform an nslookup on a Windows device

  1. Open the Start menu in Windows.
  2. Type cmd and then select Command Prompt.
  3. At the prompt, type nslookup yourdomain.com and press the Enter key. 

Perform an nslookup on a macOS device

  1. Open the Finder.
  2. Under Applications, open Utilities, and then open Terminal.app.
  3. At the prompt, type nslookup yourdomain.com and press the Enter key.
