URL Identifier

Simply put, a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is an address that provides the where and the how of accessing the item on the Web. Each page or item in your community has its own URL.

URL Shortcuts:

Located in the Control Panel the URL Shortcuts feature allows you to create a shortcut that points to any destination (page or file) within your site. URL Shortcuts can be created one level deep only.

Example 1: Marketing your site content
For instance, distribute a URL shortcut to media that maps to event details several layers within your site.
Shortcut URL: www.domain.ca/booklaunch
maps to
Destination URL: www.domain.ca/marketing/events/2009/books

Example 2: Mapping your robot.txt or sitemap.xml
For instance, after uploading a robot.txt file to your site you could create a URL shortcut that maps the downloadable file at the root of your site as required by search engines.
Shortcut URL: www.domain.ca/robot.txt
maps to
Destination URL: www.domain.ca/download/documents/site/robottxt

Pages & URL Identifiers:

Pages allow you to choose the page's URL Identifier.
