To turn on sub-navigation for a root page which has child pages, select edit while viewing the root page you would like to enable this feature for. While viewing the editing screen, above the widgets area are two check boxes, the second indicates it will expose a sub-navigation for all child pages.

The sub-navigation option enables better organization of your pages. You can move pages under a root page using the site manager to provide better navigation. For example having a "Contact Us" page with an "About Us", "Directions" and "Employees" page as children will provide you with an uncluttered main navigation, displaying only "Contact Us". It is your sub navigation which will now display "About Us", "Directions" and "Employees" when the "Contact Us" page is being viewed
