Release Notes: March 2010

Released: March 27, 2010

The March 2010 release of the IGLOO Platform contains some exciting new features and fixes.

Some of the highlights of this release include:

  • Attachments.  We are pleased to begin providing attachments in four application areas: wiki, blogs, calendar and forums. This means that you can attach relevant files to community objects, such as a blog post or calendar event. This hopefully makes our applications easier to use, helps to stimulate better collaboration around content and keep your community information neat and organized. No more searching for where to upload an image or document just because you want to reference it in a blog or wiki page!
  • Better Search Engine Optimization. Showing up on search engines is one of most critical ways to increase web traffic and expose your community and your content to people who might be interested. For webmasters of public sites we introduced some new features to help you vie for those top spots on Google.  For each Page in your community you can specify the page title, meta data like description and keywords, and robot tags - all important pieces of making your site search engine ready!
  • Invite more friends. Inviting others to join your community has never been easier.  You can now invite up to 20 people at once from the Invitation section of the Control Panel.  Simply enter a list of names and email addresses, customize your greeting message and send your invitations.  This should make it easier to build a vibrant, productive and growing community.
  • Save a Default Invitation Message.  Welcome all of your new members to your community with a consistent standard greeting message.  You can now save a default invitation message which can be reused each time that you send invitations from your community.  This will help to ensure that you are projecting a consistent, professional image of your brand, company or organization in the invitations you send out.
  • Know your members. Administrators can now export full profile data for each of the members in their community. All of the basic and extended information fields in a member's profile, along with the groups they are a part of, can be exported to give community administrator more information about their members all in one place.
