Forums
Forums allow members to participate in discussions on a variety of issues by posting topics, comments, and replies. Forums can contain a number of topics. Members can post their thoughts and connect through the discussions in the community forums.
Forums come in 2 layers. The Forum allows you to post a general topic of discussion. The next level down is the "Topic" these are more specific posts, which users can comment and reply to. The forums are meant to organize topics and provide the user with a clear list of open discussions in which they may either read or contribute to, depending on their permissions.
Attachments
We are pleased to begin providing attachments in four application areas: wiki, blogs, calendar and forums. This makes our applications easier to use, helps to stimulate better collaboration around content and keep your community information neat and organized.
- To add an attachment, you must be in edit mode.
- Click "Add Attachment" and you can upload up to 20 files.
- Members with permission to edit an object can add, delete or add versions to attachments.
- Note: there is no version control for attachments and attachment content is NOT indexed by the search engine.
Tips and Tricks
Via the Action Button you can Lock/Unlock forums. Lock sets the forum listed to read-only, so members cannot post messages to the forums. Unlock removes the read-only restriction, so members can post messages. (full access members only)
In order to participate in Forums you need to be a member of the community therefore anonymous visitors must create an account before they can participate. This step is required to ensure quality and accountability.
We recommend only minor edits to the content as major changes may alter the context. If clarification is required, use the Reply feature.
