Control Panel
The Control Panel is an area of your community which holds all the advanced administrative controls for the site. Access to the control panel is for community administrators only, accessing control panel can be done by clicking the gear in your user bar (top right).
The control panel is organized into six areas. Below you will find detailed information about each area and the options within.
Overview
- Dashboard - The dashboard lists all of the options seen in the control panel above, with a description of each options purpose.
- Public Activity - This option allows to enable anonymous commenting and see what comments have been posted. In this area you can also invite to join the community somebody that posted an anonymous commenting.
- Trash Can - Allows you to undelete content that was deleted by mistake.
Presentation
- Theme - The theme holds two areas, one is a basic theme interface meant for uploading and changing background images and colours. Secondly this area provides access to the Advanced Editor which allows for editing of the custom.css file.
- Footer - This option provides a WYSIWYG editor for adding text to the footer of your community.
- Site Manager - The site manager holds a number of options, in this area you can change your communities active homepage (the page that loads when someone visits your community.) Here you will also be able to use the drag and drop features of pages and applications to organize how they appear in your communities navigation menu (click and drag the icons located down the page to new locations to adjust their position in your navigation.) Add group spaces and pages using the green buttons in the site manager to quickly build out your community.
Membership
- Manage Members - Manage members lets a community administrator do a number of actions related to membership. These options include, searching for members, revoking a users membership, viewing a members profile and controlling a members groups.
- Manage Groups - This area allows for the creation of new community groups, once created administrators can change group names, delete groups and assign members to groups.
- Invitations - This section of the control panel is used to invite members to your community, this is done member by member or by inviting members up to 20 at a time. The option for a custom message and inviting members directly into a group is available during the invitation process (steps 2 & 3)
- Public Registrations - Here you can configure the methods in which your community accepts membership
Optimization
- Google Analytics - Here you can enter a Google Analytics tracking code to pull advanced statistics from your community to Google Analytics.
- <meta> tags - Here you are able to add meta information which will be present on all of your community pages (advanced users only)
- Social Media Sites - Here you can toggle your communities ability to have quick links to share your content and pages on other popular social sites (community must be public to enable this feature)
- URL Shortcuts - Here you have the ability to redirect long community URLs to be much shorter and easier to share (e.g, http://yourdomain.com/about_us/map can be shortened to http://yourdomain.com/map)
Settings
- Community Details - Here you can change your community name as it appears in the header. View your current community URL and your community storage usage.
- Other Settings - Here you have the ability to enable/disable rating, feedback and broadcast throughout the entire website.
- Public/Private Access - This area controls if your community is public or private. Some features such as public registration requires you to have a public community. (when toggling your community from private to public all access will change to public)
