Access (Permissions) - Giving access
Inheritance
Permissions pass on from the parent-object to the child-object. For example, when you give to a member permission to "Write", all the subpages will inherit the same permission.
Just to remember, here is the Access (Permissions) table:
Example 1 - Giving access:
Step 1
Select a Space. It is the parent-object. Hover over the Action Button to see your options ...
Step 2
... and select "Access".
Step 3
Now click on "Create A Rule" ...
Step 4
Select the member you want to give access.
Step 5
Give permission to "Write". Notice that "Apply to everything under this Group Space" is checked.Note: If you uncheck this options, the word (exclusive) will show up on the left side of the rule and the rule will apply only to the parent-object. It will not affect the child-objects.
Step 6
Click on the "Save" button.
The message "Save Access was Successful" will appear.
Now, lets go to a child-object and check out how the inheritance works. Select the Space Blog, click the Action Button and Select "Access".
You will notice the member is there, with the same permission and the word "inherited" on the left side. It worked fine.
Restoring the Relationship
If you want to restore the relationship, check the option "Restore the relationship (any narrowed down permissions will no longer apply)" and click on the "Save" button.
