If you have ever felt your community would benefit from custom community reporting, this is your opportunity to help define the metrics which will appear in our custom reports. IGLOO is looking for your help in deciding which metrics will appear and which won't.

Attached you will find a sample, this report holds statistics on a community such as top contributors, most visited community pages along with many others. Please download the sample report and review using excel. We are excited to read your feedback.

Please download the document HERE and review in excel to see all the metrics.

I think that the custom reporting would definitely benefit our community.  We compile statistical reports on a monthly basis and we've noticed that there are some things that we would like to have which are not available via Google Analytics.  I like all of the metrics in the attached document.

I noticed that the document gives the total number of members at the time the report is run - It would also be handy to have the number of new members that have joined the site during the period of the report.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the development of the metrics reports, which is perfect timing for DIA (and LiquidHub).  Once the metrics are defined, it would be helpful to have trend reports that show the trends compared to last month, quarter, YTD, 12-mos, etc.

@Renee, I like the metric of new visitor count or have users' first logins recorded.

@Jesse, I discussed the following metrics with Tanya a couple of months ago. She said that not all could be implemented, but it makes sense to share them again:

  1. User stats (covered):
    - How many members have logged on to the community in a particular period?
    - Who logged on when?

  2. User activity
    - How many members asked questions, made comments or downloaded files?
    >> Not covered, General Stats could be qualified by member count
    - How many times did members log in? (covered)
  3. Content quantity:
    - How many wiki articles, threads/posts, files? (covered)

  4. Content value (all covered):
    - Top rated articles
    - Top downloads
    - Highest number of blog comments
  5. Community monitoring (partially covered):
    - Highest/Lowest page views
    - Unanswered questions/ No replies (important for support communities)

  6. Search stats (not covered):
    - Most frequently searched terms
    - Searches with no results

Thanks for tackling this important issue! The insight provided by these reports can greatly help improve the community. If there was a scheduler attached to the reporting engine, so you could set up frequency and have the reports emailed out upon completion would be great, too.

I just thought of something that would be really helpful to us for community reports.  In Google Analytics,  there is a setting to exclude visits from certain IP addresses.  This feature would be very useful to have when generating reports for an IGLOO community.  It would be great to able to see exactly what all of our members have been up to, excluding our admins.  Our website is still fairly new and many of our page views and site visits are from our admins, which would really affect any reports that we would generate.

Hello Jesse,

Can you update us on this topic's progress or implementation plans?

The sample report provides an excellent foundation to better customize the site.    Knowing who the top contributors are is quite important. However, I must agree with Michael that it would also be equally important to know how many times members logged on and what is the top rated content and most frequent downloads.  Additionally, knowing who has not logged on within a specified time frame would also be quite valuable information.

Any projected dates for when this will be ready?  And will this be an add-on, or something that will be available to everyone?

I like the metrics that you are capturing.  Here is a sample of what I was suggesting regarding management dashboard trending reports:
