You need to check the "Cascade" box before saving the permissions. That ensures that all current and future objects in your folder structure will inherit this permission.
Note that the "Cascade" option is not a setting and therefore cannot be persisted. It is rather a one-time option that is used during management of your permissions and not as a visual reference for subsequent visits to the Access page.
Also note that we are updating the Access page with a new interface that should make it a lot more intuitive to work with.
