Problem

Blog images not showing to public.

Hi,

Our whole community is private except for the blog which has public access, but it seems that images that are embedded in the blog (using the Igloo Article Editor) just show a broken image when not logged in. On further inspection the direct link to the image doesn't work when viewing the site as a 'guest' and I can't seem to see any options regarding image permissons.

Is this intentional?

Cheers
Jordan

When you place an image on the page which tab are you using?  There should be no issue with upload or external.  If you are using browse or community then you need to ensure that you are using images from a location that is "public".

If you have a gallery of images in the site (which is private) then those images would be inaccessible to non members.

Hi Jeff,

We are using the 'Upload' tab only. I tried 'external' and that works fine as I would expect but any image that is uploaded to the '/download/.attachments/' folder don't seem to be accessable from a public view.

I.e. if you log out and visit http://invo.lv/jzCq in public mode you will see what I mean. This is the direct link to the image which shows that it can't be loaded - http://invo.lv/qzND

Cheers,
Jordan

There is logic issue that needs to be corrected, so a bug ticket has been logged.

The /download/.attachments path is being related to the root community permissions.  Since yours is private the images associated with that path are also deemed private, even though the page they are uploaded to is public.

Hi Jeff,

I was wondering if you might be able to give a timeframe as to when this bug may be fixed as we are now about to start promoting our Community + Blog.

Thanks again,
Jordan

Hi Jordan,

We have an internal fix for this issue that I'm hoping to make available by the end of the week.  Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Hi Peter,

I was wondering how the fix for the missing images is coming along? Is there an estimated date that you may be able to give as to when the fix may be available?

Cheers
Jordan

The latest update had a fix for this issue.  It does not correct existing images so you will need to reupload the images to the affected pages.

Blogs are an ideal tool for stimulating cross-team discussions, sharing expertise and unlocking new ideas. Think of a blog as an online editorial or article that expresses an author's opinion, observations or expertise on specific topics, events or activities. Members within an online community can create their own blog on a specific topic and/or comment and pose questions to other bloggers within the community.
