Technical Bulletin: IGLOO offline

By Pam Martin - 12 months ago

On Wednesday March 11, 2009 all IGLOO powered sites were offline.

The servers that power IGLOO communities are hosted at Fusepoint.  Fusepoint experienced a power failure and they will be providing a technical bulletin to IGLOO which we will post for you to download.  After their power failure ended, there were issues with bringing our service back online.  At this point we are still gathering information and will update this blog once we have more details.

IGLOO services were online as of 12:10 PM EST and
services were fully restored as of 12:50 PM.

Should you encounter any issues please do a hard refresh (PC-ctrl+F5, MAC-cmd+alt+R),
if this does not resolve your issue, please contact us as support@igloosoftware.com.

Please subscribe to this blog channel to receive updates on this issue and to be notified of other technical bulletins.

Thank you for your patience regarding this matter.

Fusepoint Incident report includes:

On March 11, 2009 at 3:15 a.m., Fusepoint, which provides the collocation services where our servers are installed, suffered a power interruption which resulted in IGLOO communities being unavailable until power was restored and our servers safely resumed operation.   The power interruption occurred during Fusepoint’s upgrade to its power delivery and distribution systems which necessitated taking it’s usual internal back-up generators off line and switching to two temporary generators.  Although this procedure was carefully planned in accordance with industry best practices and all government regulations, the two temporary generators failed after 10 days of operating as expected.

There was no loss of data or security resulting from this outage.  Fusepoint has completed its power upgrades to a state of the art system with multiple safeguards so no further interruptions are expected.
