The first release of 2010 is here. And we’re just getting started.
Since the beginning of the New Year, the team here at IGLOO has been working hard on a new wave of features requested by you - our customers. Here's a sneak peak at some of the enhancements coming soon:
- Instant Messaging & VoIP. Find, reach and communicate with others in your community quickly and cost effectively. With our new real-time communication module, you can integrate with Skype™, Windows Live™ Messenger, Google Talk™ and Yahoo!® Messenger to make it easier to connect with those hard-to-reach contacts.
- Community Facelift. Quickly and easily revitalize the look and feel of your site by changing the background image of your community. With our new wallpaper feature, you now have the power to change the design of your site with just a few clicks.
- Single Authentication. For your users, there's one less password to remember. For your administrators, IGLOO's new authentication module will allow you to connect your community to a secure LDAP server (such as Microsoft Active Directory Server) to centralize authentication, storage and maintenance of user accounts.
Make sure you are subscribed to the Product News channel in the Customer Care Community to learn more about these exciting features and future release updates. 2010 is a big year for IGLOO and we plan to speed up our already aggressive product release schedule to enhance your community building experience.

These features, along with some other small enchancements and fixes, are targeted for production this weekend (Feb 6). I'll blog again with full details when everything is live. As always, we would love to hear your feedback as you get a chance to explore them.

Single Authentication. Does this mean that now the email address is now visible through the API?

Glad you were able to take a look at some of the features in the new release. The single authentication refers to our new authentication module which connects the community login with an LDAP server. So you can use the same login credentials in both places.
However the API call to access email addresses will be deployed tonight. We are just fixing up a few odds and ends from the release and a patch should go up tonight with that API call in it.

Thanks Stephanie for the update. I look forward for tonight's update. This will help us integrate IGLOO / QIIP site with and external site using a single -sign -on.
