Adding Content

You can add content in the editor by clicking on the page and typing or you can copy and paste from another source.

When importing information from another editor it sometimes brings along extra code.  This extra code can change or break the formatting making more work for you.  As a result we have provided a few “Paste as…” options for you.

If you copy from MS Word you can paste it into the editor allowing you to maintain most of the formatting.  To paste from Word:
1. Copy the text you want to paste into the editor.
2. Launch the editor and click on the place you want your information to appear then click on ‘Paste from Word’
3. Your information will appear in the IGLOO editor
4. Note: you may need to tweak some of the formatting as the editors are not an exact match.

If you copy from another source we recommend that you paste it into the IGLOO editor as plain text.  This strips out formatting that might break or insert code that you can’t change.  To paste from a source other then Word:
1. Locate and copy the information you want.
2. Launch the editor and click on the place you want your information to appear then click on ‘Paste as Plain Text’

Adding an Image

While in the editor you have the option of adding an image.
1. First upload the image to the Gallery.  If the Gallery is hidden, you may have to access it via Administration>Navigation>Gallery
2. Launch the editor and click on the location you want to insert the image.
3. Click in the Editor and a window will pop up.
4. Locate the Album you saved your image to and click on it.  You should now see thumbnails of every image within that album, click on the image you want to insert
5. Set the image properties – size, justification, etc
6. Click ‘Update’

Image Tips and Tricks

When you add an image to the Photo Gallery IGLOO creates three versions of your image based on the original.  The small is based on standard thumbnail size, medium is always the same size, (allowing for consistency) and large is a ratio of the original.  So if the auto-generated sizes or original does not fit your needs you need to resize the original (in an image editor) and upload a new version.

Using Tables

The tables in the IGLOO editor work very similar to the tables in a standard editor.
 Insert a new table
 Table row properties
 Table cell properties
 Insert row before or after
 Delete row
 Insert column before or after
 Delete column
 Merge table cells

Hyperlinks

You may choose to make a reference to a web location on your page.
To do this:
1. Locate and copy the URL destination you want your link to take you to.
2. Type the text that you want to hyperlink and highlight it.
3. In the editor click on ‘Edit/Insert Link’   and a pop up window will appear.
4. Paste the destination URL in the ‘Link URL’
5. Select the target; do you want this link to open in the same window (navigate away from your page) or open in a new window (launch a new browser).

Hyperlink Tips and Tricks

To link to another page within your Igloo community remove the first part of the address leaving only the ending details. This ensures the link will still go to the right page even if you change your community's name.

example: to link to the Self Service page on www.igloosoftware.com from the Support page paste "/support/selfservic" into the 'Link URL' instead of "http://www.igloosoftware.com/support/selfservic". that way if igloosoftware.com were to move to igloo.com the links would still work.

Show Listing

On each page you have the ability to create folders and add documents.  Depending on how you plan on using your community you may wish to display or hide a folder's contents. To do this click the action button for the page and click edit. Scroll to the bottom and choose:
Show-to show it to anyone,
Full Access Only- show it only to members with Full access
Hide- to hide it from all users (Administrators can still access this information)

URL Sting Too Long Error Message

The URI string is too long is another way of saying the URL is too long.  The browser puts a limitation on how much data can be transferred on a single page. This is a browser limitation that we have no control over.  Unfortunately the only way to resolve this is to remove content from the page.
